  Calling it a Day (Retirement)
After changing my mind several times this week over whether to give 2024 another crack and chase the main title, the one trophy to elude my grasp, I've decided to call it a day in terms of my PFRL 'career'.

Joys of this site are you can wait right until the dawn of the new season and in the end, I've taken the choice to stop the journey here, after a strong 2023 and while sitting top of the World Rankings.

While the World Championship was a case of so close, yet so far, I've had 15 great seasons competing against so many great minds, some who've also called it time (Dominik, Maverick, Maxwell, 777) and plenty who are still active (other old forces of the championship, plus so much promising new talent). #1 for most trophies until GaKra inevitably passes me, and I can bow out as the #1 in the Constructors competition (join most titles, top Career Score that will take some beating, and 10 top 10 finishes out of my 11 seasons competing in it), one of the best to grace the Cup (6 trophies and never failed to make it out of the Group stages) and with a nice haul of silverware (3 Constructors titles, 2 PFRL Cups, 1 CRL, 1 Pro League and an Eliminator, plus plenty of race wins, and silver and bronzes in the various competitions).

Finally...
- GaKra, thanks for being a great rival over the last 15 seasons. The interactions in the forums and competition 'on track' was always great fun. You beat me to the Cup plenty of times but I've been a pain for you in the Constructors. I look forward to seeing you go in search of your third title in that without being in your way, and to seeing you close in on my trophy count!
- Chris, I hope your major trophies in 2023 proves to be a springboard to more greatness in the years ahead. You've been another that I'd enjoyed interacting with in the forums, be it talking about races, celebrating success of mourning disappointments.
- Alan, thanks for keeping the chats interesting. You're a big part of the life of them and a great competitor. So many solid years and you're due a big win!
- Can't name everyone individually, but thanks to all those I've got to pit my wits against in the various competitions and engage with in the chats.
- Maverick, you created and run an amazing site that's been a pleasure to compete on for such a long time. Thanks for everything you've done and continue to do.

I'd still like to keep my account, so I can post here and keep an eye on things. Maybe I'll make a switch over to commentary and post coverage of the Cup, highlights etc!

Good luck to all those giving 2024 and the epic 24 race season a go (I don't envy you and will enjoy doing an Alonso of sorts, grabbing a beach chair, drinking a cocktail and watching the battles from a distance!).

And Schumacher also retired? Come on, arguably the two best players that were still active gone at the same time... oh well, at least someone will still win the trophies so there will be some new best ones, so there will be enough reasons for this game to continue.

Carlisle Frost and Schumacher
Let us all take a moment and tip our hats to two of the greatest if not the two greatest pfrl racing team managers of all time.

I always so enjoyed the match race commentaries we could expect from Carlisle every season.

We are really gonna miss these guys but I understand time goes by. Farewell my awesome competitors and to you Carlisle - farewell my friend.

CarlisleFrost, when after years of fighting for the number 1 spot in the PFF1 World Ranking I finally managed to overtake Schumacher but then had you in front of me, I made it my goal to claim that spot from you in the coming years. Now to get it like that without a fight is a big bummer, but of course I respect your decision. You have proven to be a master of this game and that it would be only a matter of time until you filled the few gaps in your trophy collection, anyway.
Of course winning the Constructors title after so many years is still a big goal of mine, but while it still won't be easy, it also wouldn't feel the same if I really made it. My first title in overall also didn't feel as complete as the second one because 777 had taken a break back then. Since you have been a part of this game since 2009, my Constructors titles of 2010 and 2011 may count as beating you, but if I look at my own career, I can see that it was not so much of an achievement to beat me in my first three years here. This is about the time needed at least to get the hang of it.
I'm glad you intend to watch from the sidelines like Alonso on his beach chair back then... as we all know when Vettel retired to give a chance to the young guys, Alonso was ready to take over his car. So a comeback is always possible. Just don't expect me to be that Vettel.

Another thing important to emphasize is that you never used unethical means to win, so you never knew for sure you would advance before qualifying even started, but your opponent always had chance, too, however small.
Even when not using dubious means, there are still many strategies that could be successful, as the very different kinds of champions we had proved already. I have to admire the likes of Dominik who won lots of titles using strategies I would not feel well with myself, proving this doesn't mean strategy is wrong.
But when I sometimes looked at your teams after I set up mine, I often thought to know exactly what was going through your mind, as you often did things I did, too, or at least I considered them. So it was pretty easy for me to guess during your first years here that you will become successful. You will always be welcome if you decice to come back as an active player. For now, good luck and enjoy the show.

It's a pity that you and Schumacher, numbers 1 and 3 in the PFF1 world ranking, have retired. However, I can understand your decision well.

Thank you very much for sticking with the game for so long. We will miss you very much.
