  PFF1 Cup 2022
In this thread you can post everything concerning this year's PFF1 cup.

My winning streak in cup has sadly been broken by an incredibly strong Keke. However, I knew this is going to be a tough group, and now I also have numbers for proof.

If you go to the Playoff ranking in cup that will be decisive for the seeds in the knockout stage, you will see that group leaders are on first 16 places, then runner-ups of all groups on ranks 17 to 32 and so on. Among each group of 16, the one with the best record is on top.

The leader among 1st placed comes from group 3.

The leader among 2nd placed comes from group 3.

The leader among 3rd placed comes from group 3.

The leader among 4th placed comes from group 3.

Pretty much incredible...

I finished all my teams about half an hour early. Decided to check right at the end just in case (about 3 mins before the deadline), saw it and then had a mad panic trying to update teams. If I'd checked even a few minutes earlier, it would have made a huge difference. It's not hurt my cup team, but my best team and CRL team both have Albon and will take some pain.

Annoyingly, the 3 teams I didn't get Albon out of were also the ones I used big ERS discharges on!

Now this really pulled the rug from under my feet. Best health wishes to Albon of course, may he recover soon.

However, I went online at 12:30 and didn't see any such news, and when I turned on TV before 4, first I saw was deVries' Williams, then I went to check if this was known in time, so that was first blow, but that I put in Albon in three teams, including most important one, ouch...

Apenrader has two drivers that will start from the end of the grid, so I guess they got even less news than me but still managed to guess Sainz' position right. I sure don't feel very well with my ERS decision anymore now... but things looked as if I could risk that in the morning. Oh well, only a brilliant performance tomorrow will help now.

That late Albon announcement hurt. Couldn't change all my teams in time, but got de Vries in to everything (had to take a few penalties).

GaKra, looks like you've not got a nailbiter of a match. I'd probably say Apenrader is a slight favourite. Probably a few peoples' feelings on their matches have changed!

I’m not sure how I should feel about this GaKra - suffice to say I did not deserve to progress.

I have a slightly bad conscience towards David J who fell out of top 3 in group 4 not least because of my loss against Graham Stapleton. To be honest, I didn't do everything to win this duel. Since it already was clear that I will end my group either on 2nd or 3rd place, I decided to get rid of my Prime duty and to charge my ERS in preparation for the knockout stage. In my defence it can be said that I also used Prime and charged ERS (a little bit) against David J in round 10. I also have to emphasize that Graham Stapleton's advancing is well-deserved. He might have beaten me even without any tactical antics from my side.
The winner of my next duel against Apenrader will be rewarded with a duel against the very well-prepared Futchi. Make sure to read CarlisleFrost's post to find out about the other interesting clashes to come!

Group stages are finally over. Some key results in several groups changed who'd go through automatically and saw some people slip out of wildcard spots right at the end! Plenty of super tight groups too, where things went down to the wire. Chris I'm sure you're relieved you took top spot in your group thanks to GlennL's loss!

Some tough draws in the knockout stages too, including...
- Futchi's reward for being #1 seed being a possible first battle against GaKra (assuming GaKra can beat Apenrader).
- A tough wildcard match-up of Flavio vs rkhalili, two strong players.
- Keke, Schumacher and myself all in the same quarter, along with a dangerous looking jules_ht.
- Rainer-Zufall70 vs Cavallino Rampante facing off for the right to battle roi1975.
- katalyst vs FUTCHIVAI in another big-name wildcard battle, with the winner's prize being Chris next!

Less than a week before the knockouts begin, so bring it on!

Ugh, that Sainz retirement was a gut punch. Sure a lot of people would have been cursing that one.
